Head Golf Professional - Justin Van Heukelom, PGA
Justin Van Heukelom hails from London, Ontario, Canada. He has been a part of the Bald Head Island Club team since September 2007 and has enjoyed seeing the club develop and grow. Prior to coming to the Bald Head Island Club Justin played collegiately at Ohio Valley University and professionally on various mini-tours as well as Nationwide Tour qualifying. Justin is a Class A member of the PGA of America, Certified in Golf Operations through the PGA's Certified Professional Program and is a certified Titleist Performance Institute Golf Fitness professional. Justin has a strong passion and desire to see his students develop, improve and ultimately share in the joy of the game of golf. He and his wife Becky and daughters Kennedy and Lucy reside in Leland, NC.
Assistant Golf Professional - Jeff Phieffer, PGA
Jeff Phieffer spent his childhood living in the small town of Wading River on Eastern, Long Island. He is a graduate of Shoreham Wading River high school, where he excelled in both music and golf, twice being honored with all-county status in both. After a brief stint at the University of Southern Mississippi, Jeff turned Professional and took an Assistant Professional position at St. George’s Golf Club in East Setauket, NY. He served as First Assistant there for three years under the guidance of Head Golf Professional Rod Heller. In 1994, Jeff moved to Oswego, NY, where he was hired as the First Assistant at Beaver Meadows Golf Club. Through the ten years he served at the club, he was interim Head Golf Professional twice .Jeff was instrumental in pioneering the junior golf program, and taught private lessons to his members. After a term of ten years, Jeff moved his family to Florida to pursue a professional playing career. He participated in two Hooter’s tour winter series from 2004 to 2005, and also played in various other Florida mini-tour events. His recent playing accomplishments include participating in the 2011 PGA National Assistants Championship. Jeff is married and resides in Boiling Spring Lakes, NC with his wife Jean, and his two children, Hannah, 16, and Jack, 13.
Assistant Golf Professional - Dan Greco, PGA
Daniel Greco comes to the Bald Head Island Club as a native of Jamestown, NY and has been a Class A member of the PGA of America since 2007. After being introduced to golf at a very early age, Dan played a competitive schedule as a junior golfer including 6 years on the high school varsity after making the team in the 7th grade. He continued his passion for the game of golf into the PGA's Professional Golf Management program at Campbell University in Buies Creek, NC. After completing the PGA's program, Dan has been working as an Assistant Golf Professional for the last 7 years, most recently at Irondequoit Country Club in Rochester, NY where he developed an affinity for teaching all types of players- from men to women, as well as both seniors and juniors. He resides in Wilmington with his wife, Heather, and their son, Corey.
Assistant Golf Professional- Abby Bools
Abby was born and raised in Hickory, North Carolina. She started her career in golf on the practice facility at the Bald Head Island Club in the junior golf program. After many hours on the practice tee, Abby earned a scholarship to East Carolina University in 2006. Abby then went on to play in every tournament in her four year career. Her senior season she complied a school record 73.83 scoring average. She also won two individual events and was twice named Conference USA- Player of the Year. To go along with success on the course, she was also named the 2010 Conference USA and East Carolina University Female scholar athlete of the year. After college, Abby progressed and played for two seasons on the LPGA Futures Tour. After a couple of years of travel, she is looking forward to some stability and helping to grow the game as a club professional. Abby is a registered LPGA Class B member and a registered PGA Apprentice as well as an official US Kids Golf Certified Coach.
