Croquet Lessons

Background

For the past decade, The BHI Croquet Club has utilized a Croquet Professional to help the croquet club players improve their game and expand the croquet program at the Bald Head Island Club.  We are lucky to have Jeff Soo, a world-class croquet player, join us every couple of months throughout the year.  Jeff has created a multi-faceted teaching program based upon the skill level of our players and the development needs of the club.  His lessons cover both Golf Croquet and 6-Wicket play.  He offers individual lessons, group clinics on various techniques and oversees  coached games.  Each session with Jeff is followed by an individual recap of the lesson which Jeff emails to each student.  Our weekly court schedule of games offers ample practice time to apply what we just learned.

As a teaching pro Jeff is active and instrumental in working with the club and the USCA organization to attract other players to the BHI courts. Bald Head has hosted the NC State Singles tournament multiple times as well as  the Solomon Cup which is an international tournament.  He has also brought demonstration play to our courts which is exciting to watch.

Lessons

Lessons with Jeff are open not only to BHI Croquet Club members but also to any BHI Club Member.  In an effort to get BHI Club members who currently do not play croquet involved in the game, the BHI Croquet Club will advertise the dates of Jeff’s visits to all members of the BHI Club. Any club member is welcome to sign-up.

For more information on lesson schedule and rates please contact Kay Menk.

In addition to Jeff Soo’s teaching schedule, we offer court  time with our club members.  If you are interested,  contact the Golf Shop and they will connect you with a Croquet Club member who will be more than willing to introduce you to this exciting game.
